About the Council

The Autonomous Fiscal Council is an independent, technical, and advisory body whose purpose is to contribute to the responsible management of the Central Government of Chile’s fiscal policy. It is composed of five members who are widely recognized experts with professional and academic prestige in fiscal and budgetary matters.

Mario ArendResearch Manager

Bachelor Degree in Economics, Master in Economics, and Specialist in Applied Macroeconomics of the Inter-American Program in Applied Macroeconomics (PIMA), from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Master in Economics from Boston College.

Former positions include Head of Studies of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Finance (2018), Senior Economist of Macro Research of BTG Pactual (2012-2018), Chief Economist of Banco BTG Pactual Chile (2016-2018), Chief Economist for the Andean Region of Celfin Capital (2010-2012) and Advisor to the Macroeconomic Area of the Ministry of Finance (2005-2008).
